Roadside Attractions has been twittering away during the Q&A for GOOD HAIR today in Toronto. It all started with TIFF Documentary Programmer Thom Powers confusing the comedian for the man who made AMERICAN MOVIE. Safe to say that's probably the first time that mix-up has been made.
What followed were some of the better one-liners in recent memory.
Here's the recap, in order, per Roadside's tweets:
Thom Powers just introduced Chris Rock as "Chris Smith." I think Thom's seen one too many docs!
Thom: "So you were the first black kid in your school. What was that like?" Chris: "You know, shitty."
Chris: "I'm black, so hair doesn't really matter to me anyway. I'm an ass man. The next film's gonna be Good Ass."
Chris: "I think Michael Jackson does shows in heaven, but then they make him go back to hell."

Chris: "Lil Kim and Michelle Obama have nothing in common. But if you asked them about hair, they'd be talking for 2 hours."
Chris: "Yes, I curse for a living."
Chris: "I think Obama called lots of comedians. Because once you talk to a guy it's hard to make fun of him. See, he is smart."
Chris: "Obama's Chicago number still works. I call it sometimes and hang up just to check, like he's an old girlfriend."
Chris: "Looking back at Bush, it's like somebody you can't believe you used to date."
Chris: "Rocky III is the best time you will ever have at a movie. I defy you not to have a good time watching Stallone beating on Mr. T."
Chris: "I can't imagine starring in a drama. It's like 'Come out and not laugh at me.'"
Audience: "What do you think about Kanye last night?" Chris: "No way I'm touching that one. Too many things rhyme with Rock."
Audience: "What did you think about the black/racist Transformers?" Chris: "How did you get in here? This ain't Comic-Con!"
Chris: "Yes, I curse for a living."

Please take a moment to check out my documentary film BLACK HAIR
It is free at youtube. 6 parts including an update from London, England.
It explores the Korean Take-over of the Black Beauty Supply and Hair biz..
The current situation makes it hard to believe that Madame C.J. Walker once ran the whole thing.
I am not a hater, I am a motivator.
Plus I am a White guy who stumbled upon this, and felt it was so wrong I had to make a film about it.
self-funded film, made from the heart.
Can it be taken back?

To clarify, this wasn't the Q&A for GOOD HAIR, but an extended conversation with Rock for TIFF's Mavericks section.
