The Tribeca Film Institute will be launching (with partner Gucci) a 2-day screening series later this week featuring the work of six Tribeca alums whose latest films have been shortlisted for the Oscar.
Among those screening at the Tribeca Cinemas will be Steve James and Peter Gilbert's AT THE DEATH HOUSE DOOR (Gilbert's WITH ALL DELIBERATE SPEED screened Tribeca 2004), Scott Kennedy's THE GARDEN (his OT: OUR TOWN screened Tribeca 2002), Patrick Creadon's I.O.U.S.A. (WORDPLAY, 2002) and Daniel Junge's THEY KILLED SISTER DOROTHY (CHIEFS, 2002). Two films from Tribeca's 2008 edition - James Marsh's MAN ON WIRE and Gini Reticker's PRAY THE DEVIL BACK TO HELL - will also screen in the series.
Hosting the series and conducting Q&As with the filmmakers will be four more Oscar nominated Tribeca alumni - Marshall Curry, Heidi Ewing, Rachel Grady and Alex Gibney (who won the Oscar - and the Cinema Eye Honor for directing - in 2008 for TAXI TO THE DARK SIDE).
WIRE and DEVIL will screen this Thursday night. The other four will play on Saturday.
