WE LIVE IN PUBLIC took the Grand Jury Prize Saturday night in Park City, the second Grand Jury Prize win for director Ondi Timoner (DIG!) in six years. Timoner becomes the first filmmaker in Sundance history to twice win the Grand Jury Prize for Documentary.
Kim Longinotto's ROUGH AUNTIES received the World Cinema Documentary Grand Jury Prize.
Natalia Almada won the Directing Prize in the US Documentary Competition for EL GENERAL while Havana Marking received the World Cinema Directing Award for AFGHAN STAR. All four top awards plus the World Audience Award went to Women Filmmakers.
John Maringouin's BIG RIVER MAN, took the World Cinema prizes for Cinematography, while the much honored BURMA VJ (top prizes at IDFA and CPH:DOX) won the award for Editing.** Those prizes went to THE SEPTEMBER ISSUE and SERGIO, respectively, in the US Competition.

**A previous version of this post incorrectly attributed the World Cinema Editing win by Janus Billeskov Jansen and Thomas Papapetros for BURMA VJ to BIG RIVER MAN. The error is mine.
actually, BURMA VJ did win an award -- for editing. i think you accidentally confused BIG RIVER MAN's editor for Janus Billeskov, who obviously edited BURMA VJ. (also, i believe there was another editor credited for the award along with Janus...) So, BIG RIVER MAN won for cinematography only.

BURMA VJ won the World Doc Editing Award, not BIG RIVER MAN.

Burma VJ won the award for editing (Big River Man needs re-editing - too sloppy)
