There's no Documentary category at the Golden Globe Awards - I suppose that James Marsh and Tia Lessin don't hold the requisite star power - yet one of the top nonfiction films of the year, WALTZ WITH BASHIR, did get a nod in the Foreign Language category. Ari Folman's acclaimed film, out of the running for the Documentary Oscar, is Isreal's official selection in the Academy race and also hopes to be nominated in the animated feature category.
I feel confident in saying - with no actual proof - that this is the first time a documentary feature has received a Golden Globe nominations. If I'm wrong, somebody tell me.
All I've seen is the trailer for Waltz and it looks amazing. I'll be catching it Xmas or the day after. Your take, or review?
