One week after announcing the ten films that were shortlisted for their feature film award, the IDA has narrowed their list to five finalists and has also announced nominees for several other awards.
Making the final five in the Best Feature Documentary Category are:
CRAZY LOVE
Directed by Dan Klores
OPERATION HOMECOMING: WRITING THE WARTIME EXPERIENCE
Directed by Richard E. Robbins
SICKO
Directed by Michael Moore
TAXI TO THE DARK SIDE
Directed by Alex Gibney
A WALK TO BEAUTIFUL
Directed by Mary Olive Smith
Surprisingly, the nominees in two other categories - the IDA ABCNews Videosource Award and the IDA Pare Lorentz Award - do not include the names of three of the year's frontrunners for the Best Documentary Feature Oscar - NO END IN SIGHT, IN THE SHADOW OF THE MOON and THE DEVIL CAME ON HORSEBACK (although it's rumored that DEVIL may not have been submitted in time to make the IDA's deadlines). In the past two years, both Academy Award winners in the documentary feature category were nominated for the Pare Lorentz Award even though they were left off the list of Feature Finalists.
There are a few other awards not yet announced by the IDA, including the Jacqueline Donnet Emerging Documentary Filmmaker Award and the new Alan Ett Music Documentary prize. Details as soon as they are announced.
Here is the full list of nominees in other categories announced today by the IDA:
