If one can get past the excitement of Justin Timberlake and Andy Samberg possibly taking home a statue for their SNL opus "Dick in a Box" (nominated in the Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics category), you can find several nonfiction filmmakers amidst the plethora of Emmy nominations announced this AM. As always, the Emmys make things interesting with their practice of combining individual efforts in ongoing nonfiction series with stand-alone feature-length documentary films, but it's pretty clear that the nominations have at least coalesced around Spike Lee's epic Katrina film WHEN THE LEVEES BROKE: A REQUIEM IN FOUR ACTS, which garnered a nomination in nearly every nonfiction category. Other top nominees include Rory Kennedy's GHOSTS OF ABU GHRAIB, Stanley Nelson's JONESTOWN: THE LIFE AND DEATH OF PEOPLES TEMPLE and Steven Bognar and Julia Reichert's LION IN THE HOUSE.
