The Director's Guild Awards were held tonight with Ang Lee and Werner Herzog winning top honors for Brokeback Mountain and Grizzly Man, respectively.
The win solidifies Brokeback Mountain's seemingly unvincible march to numerous Oscars in early March, while Herzog's win for Grizzly Man further embarrasses the Academy's documentary branch for their failure to shortlist the film (far and away the most honored nonfiction film of 2005) for the Best Documentary prize. 15 other films made the shortlist.
Nominations for the Academy Awards come this Tuesday morning.
