Laura Poitas' THE OATH and Lucy Walker's WASTE LAND, both of which are nominated for Best Feature Documentary at this Friday's IDA Awards, will definitely go home with some hardware as the IDA announced winners in several categories late Monday.
THE OATH, which won the Gotham Award last night for Best Documentary, will share the IDA's Humanitas Award with Roberto Hernández and Geoffrey Smith's PRESUMED GUILTY. WASTE LAND will pick up the group's Pare Larentz Award.
The ABCNews VideoSource Award for best use of news footage in a documentary will go to Duane Baughman and Johnny O’Hara’s BHUTTO. Jim Bigham and Mark Moorman's FOR ONCE IN MY LIFE will receive the IDA Music Documentary Award.
While it's common for the IDA to pre-announce their winners (only in the past four years has the Feature and Short Documentary winner been kept secret until the ceremony), the group typical announces nominees for each of these categories. This year, nominees were only announced for the Music Documentary Award.
Friday's IDA Awards takes place at the DGA Theatre in Los Angeles.
