Adam Del Deo and James D. Stern's EVERY LITTLE STEP this weekend became the 5th nonfiction film of 2009 to reach $1M in box office receipts. It's the second film from Sony Pictures Classics to reach that plateau - the Oscar nominated, Cinema Eye-sweeping WALTZ WITH BASHIR was the first - and marks a strong doc year for the distributor, which is also scoring with James Toback's TYSON.
EARTH remains the top doc of the year - by far. It now has more than $31M in ticket sales. Perhaps only Michael Moore's latest - set for the fall - can challenge that.
Meanwhile, Sascha Gervasi's ANVIL! THE STORY OF ANVIL has now made more than half a million in its inspired roll out.
A full ranking of the year's top 20 docs to date can be found here.
