The Satellite Awards, described accurately by indieWIRE's Peter Knegt as "unpredictable and occasionally downright wacky", came out with their nominations today and have pitched 6 films - 3 of which have been shortlisted for the Oscar - for their Motion Picture, Documentary category.
They are:

MAN ON WIRE
Directed by James Marsh
PRAY THE DEVIL BACK TO HELL
Directed by Gini Reticker
RELIGULOUS
Directed by Larry Charles
WALTZ WITH BASHIR
Directed by Ari Forman
BASHIR was also nominated in the Animated Feature category but not in the Foreign Language category.
It would be giving the Satellites far too much credence to go oeverboard in noting snubs (and I say this as a former Satellite nominee), but it's a bit of a surprise that the organization didn't take note of the other Oscar frontrunner - TROUBLE THE WATER, nor did they throw a nomination to ROMAN POLANSKI: WANTED AND DESIRED, which is maybe more surprising given the "international celebrity/film journalist" composition of the Satellite organization.
