True/False Prepares to Launch with Oscar Winner Alex Gibney, the New Ragtag, MAN ON WIRE and BIGGER, STRONGER

Festival coverage sponsored by IndiePix.

Just two days before the start of the fifth annual True/False Film Festival and the fest has, in the past week, announced two new titles, both of which were amongst my favorite films of Sundance 2008.  James Marsh's Grand Jury and Audience Award winner, MAN ON WIRE, which was recently acquired by Magnolia, has been announced as the closing night film (see my original thoughts on the film here), and will screen in the historic 1,750 seat Jesse Auditorium.  BIGGER, STRONGER, FASTER*, Christopher Bell's surprisingly in depth look at steroids in America (my thoughts here), will also grace the festival, with rumors of that film's acquistion growing daily.

Meanwhile, the new Ragtag Cinema has opened.  The Maneater, the local University of Missouri student newspaper (of which I am a proud alum), has a story on the grand opening.

All this and the newly minted Oscar winner, Alex Gibney, who will be on hand to receive the festivals only honor, the True Vision Award.

We will have complete coverage of the fest here on the blog.  For more, check in with our pal Pete Bland, who will be posting non-stop on his blog.  You can find an in-depth preview on the Columbia Tribune website.
