Editors Give Doc Prize to Inconvenient Truth, Cinematographers Give, Oh Wait, They Don't Give Doc Awards

The ACE (American Cinema Editors) have handed out their annual awards and last night gave the prize for Best Edited Documentary to Jay Cassidy and Dan Swietlik for An Inconvenient Truth, beating out two docs that originated on HBO.  It's the first guild prize for the Davis Guggenheim film.

Meanwhile, the American Society of Cinematographers also bestowed their honors over the weekend, but as noted here before, they don't give a prize for documentary, the only one of the major guilds not to do so.

Full motion picture winners for both are below.  Draw whatever Oscar pool conclusions you may:

ACE Eddie Awards

Best Edited Feature/Drama
(tie) Babel (Stephen Mirrione & Douglas Crise) and The Departed (Thelma Schoonmaker)

Best Edited Feature/Comedy or Musical
Dreamgirls (Virginia Katz)

Best Edited Documentary
An Inconvenient Truth

ASC Awards
Emmanuel Lubezki for Children of Men
