Back in Los Angeles after five days (and four nights) in Park City. A full recap with lots of photos coming shortly.
On the whole, this seemed a slightly more subdued Sundance than usual. Maybe it's because I arrived on Saturday, maybe it's because I only saw docs while I was there (I never stepped foot in Eccles or the Egyptian), maybe it's because I am getting more used to everything. I even have my regimen down - lots of water, spread out your alcohol, use the Main Street Express shuttle bus, don't try to eat on Main Street until Monday.
My favorite film of the fest? Jessica Yu's Protagonist. Will have much more to say on that soon. But here's an interview with Yu over at Joel Heller's excellent new doc blog (and podcast spot) Docs That Inspire. (Joel has interviews with a number of Sundance doc directors and I've been meaning to link to him for ages.)
Of the nonfiction films I did not get a chance to see, I heard great things about Crazy Love, Manda Bala, The Devil Wears Horseback, My Kid Could Paint That and No End in Sight. I'm sure there are others but I'm still vaguely re-adjusting to sea-level.
